Teacher Blooper

Well today at work I was bending over to look at some stick bugs with Kinsley when a colleague informed me that they could clearly see my blue leopard print underwear through my black leggings! Great! I had definately worn those all day long and while my shirt was longer I doubt it hid that. Guess I will be retiring those to the weekend wear section of my wardrobe.

My 3 Year Old Photographer

Very cool gift idea if you have a little technology whiz like I do. Kinsley got a kid friendly digital camera. This one is made by Vtech but there may be better options out there. It only has 1.3 mega pixels so it takes pretty fuzzy pictures if you don’t have  a steady hand but she loves using it. She has taken about 150 pictures in a few days. The things I like about it are seeing what she chooses to be photo worthy. She has been taking pictures of mostly her new hermit crabs, her family, and a few other toys and animals. I really enjoy seeing the funny pictures she takes and getting to know the important things in her world.

This camera is parent friendly too! I had no trouble hooking it up to my laptop and printing small pictures on our home printer in minutes. We then put them in a scrap book and wrote some of our observations! It was really fun. There is nothing to download either!

Amazing toy!

I have to give all credit to Aunt Christine for this one but I am so grateful for this bug vacuum. I used to sit on the sidewalk and try to catch ants for my daughter. She is in love with critters (blah). Catching ants is harder than you think. She would catch them by squishing them and I would try to get them to crawl on my hand then shake them into the bug house. Well not anymore! This thing sucks them up and puts them into a clear container that you can empty into your bug house. No more touching bugs for this mommy! Sometimes the ants can crawl back up the vacuum head though so it works best if you empty the container right away. If your kids are into bugs as much as mine, you need one of these!

Safari Hat Baby

LOVE this hat! I don’t know what it’s called so I call it her safari hat. It has the neck flap which protects face, neck and ears, all the areas you hate to put sunscreen. It is a super lightweight material that dries extremely fast. The top has an elastic around the head piece so it is an easy fit for a long time. We bought this one from a little store in Ottawa and I hope they have them when we go back in July because I need another! I almost forgot to mention the best part… it has a chin strap with an adjustable clasp closure so nothing is getting this sucker off.

This is a picture of my daughter who was 2 in the picture.

A New Idea!

I have switched up my blog idea a little. Instead of just rambling on about myself I will try to share some useful thoughts about what products and things have made my life with 2 girls easier. There is a lot of stuff out there that can be so useful and you just find it too late!  First up a photo of the Nike sandal Kinsley wore last year. Love these. They have a shoe bottom but are lightweight, and come with a covered toe (I like the protection). I love how they don’t chafe when they are wet, how light they are to walk in and that they work everywhere. Last year they were expensive but this year they have come down a lot in price. I would say they fit on the smaller side of sizes. I hate clunky, heavy shoes so these were a perfect fit for me!

One more thing. I will still be rambling on just a little. Today at school I wore a strapless sundress. 2 students asked if I was having another baby, I guess the pouf of the skirt was in the wrong spot to be flattering on me. This evening while my husband was at the gym, my dad offered to come over and sit after the kids went to bed so I could go for a run. Then I did a small ab workout on my neighbour’s side lawn because ours was wet from the kiddie sprinkler we used today. Hopefully I can keep this up and loose the still pregnant look. It’s only flattering if you are actually pregnant.

Summer Footwear!

Summer Footwear!

These are my favourite summer shoes for the girls! I love this lightweight, flexible sandal. It comes in awesome colours, the toe is curved up for less tripping and they go everywhere. Walking, biking, the beach and the park. They dry fast and leave no chaffing if worn wet. I am always on the search for light, comfortable, and practical shoes.

Moving Back Home

That’s it we have had it! We moved out of our home after it was sold to live at my parents for a few months while we built our new one. As you may know the buyers back out on the closing date. We moved out for NOTHING. We decided to gamble and update the house to try to sell it once again for a higher profit. The house that we still own looks amazing, new paint and hardwood floors. Well the bad luck kept coming. The day before our listing was to go up the house down the street ( not as nice or finished) went for sale for a much cheaper price. No one wants ours. To stay competitive we would have to lower our asking price significantly and just break even not to mention the emotional and physical stress everyone is going through during all this. We have decided it is NOT WORHT IT. As well the new area we are wanting to build in does not yet have services or deeds so who knows if we would even be able to start before the snow?  Too risky! SO back to Woodlawn we go. It has been very frustrating and disappointing. When if they buyers had not backed out on extremely unreasonable terms we probably would have  had a basement and frame by now. Not to mention I painted Woodlawn gray, blue, and white ew! Cool colours are not my style. Neither are super dark floors lol. I need a sign that says welcome to my cool, dusty, house. Well on the bright side we are going back to great neighbours and my sister has just bought a house one block away. We will have lots of off time together. Not sure when we will get to build our dream house now but hopefully one day in the not so far future.

Moringa Buisness

Alright everyone you must know by now I have jumped into the Zija opportunity. As soon as I was introduced to the product and information I could not believe that a little (and I am not kidding when I say this) pathetic looking tree could do all this. I am still not 100% sure about ALL the healing powers listed yet because I am just getting into this but in my own experience I have already noticed changes. As mentioned in my older posts ( so very few I know). I have noticed a change in my mood, energy, and weight. To clarify all GOOD changes! If the Moringa tree is as amazing as I think it is I just want everyone to try it because it can help every type of person! I really love the simple philosophy too. A serving of this tree delivers complete nutrition. So everything you need vitamin, mineral and nutrient wise in your body. The thinking is that if your body is getting everything it needs its going to work right, work better and heal itself if need be. Now that makes sense to me! So basically I am excited to be helping people and being able to sell something that you, in my opinion need! Not overpriced useless junk or luxuries. Food that helps people!

However I am not sure why I thought this would be easy! In between selling my house, moving, living at my parents, and raising a newborn and a 2 year old, I decided to start a business. What was I thinking! I unfortunately do not get a lot of work time! I crunch the laptop from 9-11 almost every night trying to train, reach contacts, and network, all new stuff for me! I normally don’t do much online aside from bills and email so this was quite an adventure. It’s exciting though and I am happy to have a new project… sometimes. Taissa has also come on a few prospect visits. I thought she would be a great tool. Ya a cute little baby could totally sell Moringa for me. Wrong! All she did was glare lol. Talk about rude. We really need to work on her people skills! Ok check out the biz and give me tips, suggestions, advice, or a chance ! Have a good night! www.kmclean.myzija.com

Taissa, Our Needy Baby

Taissa has been a challenge since conception! She is our second child and our first was so easy we did not think twice about doing it again right away, So when Kinsley turned 1 we got pregnant again right away. Which in my family for most of us that means I just thought about it and it happened. There is no such thing as “trying”.

Several months into the pregnancy after my second ultrasound (the first being only a few weeks in since I knew the day I got pregnant), I was called to my doctor’s office and told to get there as soon as I could but of course they would not tell me why on the phone. I had placenta previa and a small tear as well. No lifting, no exercise, no anything. I was allowed to work thank goodness because I didn’t even have enough hours yet to cover another maternity leave. But I could not even lift my 1.5 year old daughter. Also it meant my husband had to do everything. Pick her up and drop her off at daycare, lug the laundry baskets around, do bath time. These are all things he is happy to do he just has an incredibly demanding job and we definitely had a big adjustment to make. My family also helped when they could with daycare pickups and chores.

I of course was in total shock because my first pregnancy was a breeze. No sickness, no pain, I worked out until 2 days before she was born, and didn’t even feel pregnant. I had assumed that would happen again. Why not? I was young…enough, healthy. That was naïve.

Luckily the placenta previa corrected itself and the tear healed. Then there was another problem. Taissa would not come out and when she finally did she almost arrived in the car! 3 days after her due date and my 3rd round of castor oil we went to the hospital for about the 3rd time in the last 2 weeks (she faked it a few times before that ). Only to be sent home again because of no change. So here I am 40 weeks and 3 days, 6cm dialated with contraction 5 minutes apart and I have to try to go back to bed. Well that was a mistake because an hour later my water broke while I was sleeping through contractions and then she was coming. By the time Grandma arrived (10 minutes later) I could no longer walk to the car. We arrived just in time to run to the maternity ward (well I was in a wheelchair) hop on the bed and have the baby, with no doctor. Great. I guess it was a slow night because she had gone home to sleep and did not arrive until after the baby was born. Then the complications began.

1. Taissa had to be monitored every 4 hours because I was supposed to have been given antibiotics for strep B but obviously did not have time to sit around on an IV for an hour before giving birth.

2. 10 days after she was born we rushed back to emerge because she was puking up blood… turned out to be mine.

3. 2 months after she was born I thought it would be great to start introducing formula to get a break now and then. Well her whole body broke out in a rash and then it turned to skin breaking eczema.

4. A week after that I thought soy formula might be a safer option. She projectile vomited that option all over my parents house for hours one evening. Bad idea.

5. At 6 months old they were telling me she was too small, only in the 7th percentile for weight but 67th for height. If only that doctor had seen some of my cousins growing up! They would have been hospitalized. Taissa can’t help it if she comes from a family of shrimps!

Did I mention her personality? Very pleasurable for the most part, if I am right beside her. Leave her side for a minute and she acts like someone pinched her.

The turn around.

Taissa is now 8 months old and doing much better. I have started taking Moringa ( Zija’s www.kmclean.myzija.com) to ensure I was healthy therefore the breastmilk I was producing was healthy. Taissa started on solids so I began slipping coconut oil in her foods to beef her up. She is a good eater! The best news is that I tried a few formula’s found one she liked and she is not allergic anymore!! More good news Taissa gained a whole pound in 3 weeks on her new diet!  She is still a clingy baby and does not amuse herself well but that’s what a year off is for right?

Happy Husband

So apparently Travis ( my husband) is now on board with Zija. He was supportive of the idea of trying something new and allowing me a “project” but now his response is I’ll tell anyone! I have started giving myself better nutrition by drinking Super Mix once a day. After 4 days of taking it I had more energy and was feeling myself again. My husband says he has noticed emotional and physical changes. Changes like more energy, better moods, and weight loss. It’s nice to have the energy to want to do more for him again and not just do the necessary things to get by each day.
